This is a 30 minute program and is airing 6/29 at 10pm, 6/30 at 6pm, 7/1 at 11pm, 7/2 at 7pm, 7/3 at 1pm, 7/4 at 3pm, 7/5 at 4pm, and 7/6 at 10pm. All times are Eastern Standard.

Matties' Funeral Services Monday - Monday, June 28, 2004 Mattie J T Stepanek's funeral services start at 11 am EDT Monday in Washington D.C. (8am PDT) Maybe in our busy days today we can stop for a moment and reflect on what he has brought to us thru his songs and his poems and his life "If they would find a cure when I'm buried into heaven I could still celebrate with my brothers an sister there, and I could still be happy knowing that I, knowing that I, was a part of the effort."

GILMAN TO SING AT MATTIE'S FUNERAL - Friday, June 25, 2004 Billy Gilman has been asked to sing at his good friend Mattie Stepanek's funeral on Monday, June 28. The thirteen year old lost his battle with a rare form of muscular dystrophy this past Tuesday. Mattie was a best-selling author with his "Heartsongs" books and a MDA National Goodwill Ambassador. Billy and Mattie teamed to put some of Mattie's Heartsong poems to music and "Music Through Heartsongs: Songs Based on the Poems of Mattie J. T. Stepanek" was released last year. Billy will sing a selection from the release at the funeral. "When I heard about Mattie's death I knew we had lost a great soul - but in his short life he has left us all a legacy with his wonderful poetry that will last forever. He's had and will continue to have an impact on the world through his "Heartsongs" books and his positive outlook. Mattie was an incredible friend and his strength always gave me strength - his hope gave me hope. My daily problems seemed so minimal when I was with him - he was literally fighting for his life daily," said Billy.

Goodbye Mattie - Tuesday, June 22, 2004 June 22, 2004 - Mattie J.T. Stepanek died today in Washington due to complications from his rare neuromuscular disease. In April 2003, singer Billy Gilman released “Music Through Heartsongs,” an album of songs based on Stepanek’s poems. On hearing of Stepanek's death, Gilman, MDA's National Youth Chairman, said, "Mattie changed my life and I'll miss him. Whenever a great soul is lost, the world is a sadder place.
