=================================================================== The UNofficial Billy Gilman Fan Web Site Newsletter (#018-00-12-17) =================================================================== Well after kicking and screaming my provider has finally fixed the problem that was preventing me from accessing the service that hosts the newsletter list and the guest book. Unless something exciting happens this will probably be the last newsletter before Christmas. I'll do a regular update of the chart information on the site next weekend so you'll be able to find it there if you're interested. To close out the year I'd like to open the floor to all the readers. Billy has had a great year, everything from his explosive debut to the world on the ACMA's to his Platinum(plus) debut album to his Gold Christmas album and everything in between. For Billy it's been a very busy and successful 7 months. What are you're thoughts? Send me a SHORT paragraph for the New Year's Eve Newsletter. Merry Christmas Everyone! Billy TV This weeks charts New Appearances Vote for Billy's video's This week's updates to The UNofficial Billy Gilman Fan Web Site This week's new highlights: --------------------------- + Gold + On Monday, December 4, 2000 Billy's Classic Christmas was certified GOLD signifying shipments of 500,000 albums. + Best of 2000 + Even though there are still a couple weeks left in 2000, both Billboard and CMT have compiled and released their Best of the Year charts and Billy has faired very well for only being around for part of the year. On the Billboard Top Country Albums for the year, "One Voice" comes in at #14. For CMT's Top 12 Videos of the Year, "One Voice" comes in at #5. Billy also won CMT's "Rising Video Star of the Year" award. And on a related note, video director Trey Fanjoy who directed both "One Voice" and "Oklahoma" received CMT's "Video Director of the Year" award. A Home for the Holidays ----------------------------- I received the following information on Friday from what I think is a PR Firm involved with it. A CBS Special "A Home for the Holidays" Focuses on Adoption from Foster Care. Billy Gilman will join fellow music stars Faith Hill, 98 Degrees, Destiny's Child, Brian McKnight, Vanessa Williams and Kirk Franklin and One N.C. on this heart-warming special about the importance of adoption from foster care in the United States. In "A Home for the Holidays" Billy will perform "There's a Hero" a song from his hit album, "One Voice." More than 122,000 children in the United States are waiting to be adopted. This special is aimed at getting those children into loving families of their own. The show will air December 21 on CBS at 8 p.m. Other noted celebrities in the special include Muhammad Ali, Amy Brenneman, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ellen DeGeneres. Favorite Christmas Song ----------------------------- According to Sony, Billy's favorite Christmas song is "The Christmas Song" (Chestnuts roasting over an open Fire). So of the 15 Christmas songs Billy has recorded, which is your favorite? Visit the Polls page of the site to answer. Get Billy played on radio A couple weeks ago someone e-mailed me and suggested that I mention to all of you to call your local radio stations and request Billy's songs. What's Billy doing this week? ----------------------------- On Tuesday, between Washington and Rosie, Billy was in Chicago to take part in a benefit for "inner-city" kids. Billy has never forgotten his hometown fans who encouraged and supported him in the early days, and although his work for the year ended after the taping of the Rosie show there was one last thing that Billy wanted to do. To say "Thank You" Billy held a special meet and greet for local fans at the Washington Trust Bank on Saturday where he signed autographs and the fans could get their picture taken with him. This will likely be it until January. Although previously believed that Billy would be off until February I've learned that the schedule starts up again early next month with something in New York, as soon as I know more I'll put it up on the site. Billy TV For December 17th to 31st -------------------- Please forgive the different look this week, but with all the repeats and some differences between the American and Canadian airings I thought this might be better, hopefully it is. This week's charts -------------------- On Billboard's Country Albums Chart this week Billy still has two albums in the Top 5. "One Voice" and "Classic Christmas" still occupy spots 4 and 5 but have switched places with "Classic Christmas" at #4 On Billboard's Top 200 Albums "One Voice" slips to #45, while "Classic Christmas" moves up to #42. On Billboard's Country Radio Airplay charts "Oklahoma" moves up another spot to #42 while retaining #2 on the Country Singles Sales Chart. Billboard has brought the Christmas Albums Chart up to date. On the Canadian Country Albums Soundscan chart "One Voice" slips one to #8, and "Classic Christmas" slips one to #12. Last week alone "Classic Christmas" sold over 73,000 units while "One Voice" sold nearly 69,000. Add to that 13,500 copies of the "Oklahoma" single and Billy, by himself, sold over 155,000 CD's and tapes. When you factor in Charlotte's "Dream a Dream" album, and Rosie's album, Billy participated in a combined sales of _400,000_ albums.
