Because a large number of the Grammy Awards (including most of the
Country awards) where handed out during a ceremony prior to the televised
portion of the show a lot of people are wondering what happened with
Billy's nominations. Both of the category which Billy was nominated in
were listed in the bottom left corner of the screen when going to
commercials during the first hour of the televised portion.
Before getting to the result I want to remind everyone that just for
Billy to have been nominated in his very first year is an amazing
accomplishment. He was up against some really tough competition,
including a Country music legend and icon (Johnny Cash), a multiple
Grammy winner (Vince Gill) and one of Country's most popular performers
(Tim McGraw).
We also have to remember that with his nomination Billy became the
youngest solo artist in history to be nominated for a Grammy. These
are amazing accomplishments that we Billy fans should be celebrating.
Although a Grammy would have been nice.
"One Voice" was up for Best Country Song (the award goes to the song
writers). That award went to "I Hope You Dance"
Billy was up for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. That award went
to Johnny Cash.
For the first time in the 34 weeks since it was released "One Voice"
drops out of the top 10 on Billboard's Country Albums Chart. Sitting
this week at 11.
On the Billboard Top 200 Albums it took another drastic drop falling to 94.
On a somewhat more pleasing note, On the Canadian Soundscan chart "One
Voice" has held on to the #13 spot for the second week, which is were it
debuted on the chart 33 weeks ago.
