Billy's "Classic Christmas"
by Gregd63
I went to a local Wal-Mart on the morning of 10/17/00 just to get the new CD.
I had been waiting for the day to come, especially after I heard the clips
for some of the songs on the BillyGilman.com site. They had not put it out,
so I got someone to go and find it in the back of the store. I have to say
that the whole CD is fantastic. I looked over the list of songs that were on
it, and I was surprised to see how many hymns were on it. Christmas is really
the celebration of the birth of Christ, but today it often is 'politically
incorrect' to acknowledge that God does exist. It really makes me feel good
to see a child today who just radiates wholesomeness like Billy does.
I have to admit that when I started listening to "There's A New Kid In Town",
it moved me to tears, it was so good. (I'm a grown man, almost 37 years old.)
I think that one of the things that makes him so good is the fact that the
music does not overpower his singing. Too many singers have the music part so
loud, you cannot make out a lot of the words. I can't speak for the rest of
you, but I buy a CD to hear the voice of the singer.
In any case, if you can afford to buy just one CD this year, buy "Classic
Christmas". It is a bargain.
