Dare To Dream
by Max
Billy Gilman's third full-length CD, "Dare To Dream", released in the
United States on May 8, 2001. Though it's his third CD, many will
consider this Billy's sophomore effort since the "Classic Christmas"
CD was a holiday staple. But "Dare To Dream" is brimming with new music
that highlight's Billy's incredible voice and passion.
The first track and single "She's My Girl" is an upbeat, catchy country
song and sets the stage for the rest of the album. Many of the songs are
about love, whether it be love for his mom ("The Woman In My Life") or
teenage love ("Our First Kiss", "I've Got To Make It To Summer", and
"Almost Love"). So in a sense this is almost a coming of age album for
young Gilman.
The CD also accentuates meaning and spirituality with "My Time On Earth"
and "God's Alive and Well", while at the same time including some fun songs
like the tongue-twisting "You Don't You Won't" and the bad-boy-Billy song
"Shamey, Shamey, Shame".
The closest we come to a "One Voice" or "Oklahoma" type of heart-wrenching
ballad is the beautiful song "Elisabeth", about a very special little girl.
Billy's voice is in top form throughout the CD - another excellent effort
by Billy Gilman!
