BILLY`S CONCERT AT FALL RIVER, MASS. Aug.10,2000
Billy was on fire in Fall River and gave a dynamite performance. The
festival was called "Fall River Celebrates America". Thursday night was
"Country Night" sponsored by New England radio station "Cat Country 98.1".
Billy was the closing act, which included the "Clark Family Experience".
After the Clark Family finished their gig and a few speeches from the
organizers of the festival, Billy was introduced to the "standing room
only" crowd and out he flew and I mean flew. Dressed in a blue T-shirt,
black jeans and black boots, all his built up energy exploded on stage in
front of the crowd that was later estimated at 10,000 strong. He started
with "Little Bitty Pretty One" moving from one side of the stage to the
other, playing to each and every person in the crowd, which included from
the very young to senior citizens. Billy was having a ball, enjoying every
minute of it. I had brought my camera but it was difficult keeping him in
focus to get a good shot the way he was moving around the stage. I
figured I`ll wait until he slows down a little. After another fast paced
song from his "One Voice" CD, Billy announced to the crowd that he was
happy his CD was number one and equally happy that the song "Oklahoma"
was being released as a single. He then sat at the end of a table that
was on stage and with all the emotion in his voice he sang "Oklahoma"
flawlessly.
Billy preformed most of the songs from his CD including a few new ones
"Boggy Down (or Back) To Texas" and American Trilogy which included
"God Bless The USA" and of course "One Voice" which he did in the middle
of his concert. I noticed there was a very young girl on her father`s
shoulders next to me that sang along with Billy and knew every word to
the song. After an encore Billy brought back the Clark Family Experience
and preformed together a rousing rendition of "Roly Poly" which was a
show stopper and ended the show. I could tell the crowd did not want it
to end.
Immediately after the concert Billy stayed around to sign autographs and
greet his fans which where lined up in the hundreds.
It was well worth the journey up to Fall River, Mass. from my home in
upstate New York and it was one of the best concerts I have ever seen.
