Seventeen Host: Billy is a Rhode Island native, not the first state you think of when you hear country music!
Seventeen Host: The big news with Billy Gilman now is he will be singing "Ben" on the Michael Jackson concert/TV special. He's along other artists such as Britney Spears, N'Sync, Ray Charles, Whitney Houston, Diana Ross, Ricky Martin, Shaggy, Gloria Estefan, Mary J. Blige, Gladys Knight and Luther Van Dross. Yahooligan_Samantha: billy, how was your job changed your life style? baller_playboys_shawty: who are your biggest influences? BillyGilman: Basically because my grandparents they love to sing, its hereditary, all my family loves to sing, I chose to take it to the extreme and pursue my dream. Ashlees_Mommie: How does it feel to know you have such a huge group of fans calling themselves Billy Heads? egtruman: Do you have time to just be a kid? tearsofpluto: Do you have a girlfriend? BillyGilman: My job has not changed my lifestyles that much, well, can't eat chocolate when you're doing a show :P And not being at home so much, but my life has not changed much. BillyGilman: My biggest influences...EVERYONE in the music industry! peter5499: Your duet of "You've Got A Friend" with Jessica Andrews is fantastic. Are there plans to record it? BillyGilman: *lol* It is really cool and I am really flattered, im very honored to have people calling themselfs Billy Heads :P peter5499: Are there plans to make amn in concert CD or video? BillyGilman: I'm at home right now, I'm doing a big tour with Jessica Andrews, the tour is going through in Oct. so I can be a regular kid, I'm swimming, i have friends over, there is plenty of time to be a kid. BillyGilman: tearsofpluto, no I do not have a girlfiend, but you never know :P BillyGilman: My favourtie song to sing in concert, believe it or not, I have sung it so many times, "One Voice" because I get to show my voice. BillyGilman: peter5499, hopefully on one of our albums, either Jessica's or mine. Seventen Host: We know Billy is one busy guy, but we're so excited that he's chatting live with us! BillyGilman: Peter5499, the new single is called "She's My Girl", it is a video, hopefully in the future I will be able to do a concert CD. idahoeprincesschick: Billy, I am pursuing a career in music, are there any tips you can give me, hey and I would really like to meet you or atleast get an autograph americanbubbles: What is it like to have accomplished so much at such a young age? hotstud302: Billy are you going to star in any movies? BillyGilman: Idahoprincess, well, if you want to do it for the long run, it is just so much fun, but it can be really crazy and hard, my career so far is going great. 3 words that describe my career, Crazy, Energetic and Fun. So follow your dreams. BillyGilman: americanbubbles, it is so amazing, it is the fans that really count, im so priviledged to be doing what I do. hopefully it will never end. BillyGilman: hotstud302, yes I am going to be doing either a TV series or a movie next year. We are looking into ideas in CA, but we are taking it one step at a time. sprinkles24us: Billy how do fit school into your busy schedule..? BillyGilman: Sprinkle24us, as a matter of fact the week I am off I am going to school in the summer, I go about 3 or 4 hours a day, its really busy but I get things done. apologetixnut: What's your favourite song off Dare To Dream? BillyGilman: apologetixnut, My favourite song of Dare To Dream is "Our First Kiss", because I had my first kiss in front of my school bus and my bus driver will never let me live it down. :P hotstud302: Billy do you like being on the road with Jessica Andrews? BillyGilman: hotstud302, I do, it is so much fun to be on the road, it is like a young brother, big sister type of thing. We get along really good and we have a good time on the road. Yahooligan_dmt: What is it like to be on-stage? BillyGilman: Yahooligan_DMT, there is no experience, with fans clapping and singing along, there really is no other experience. hotstud302: Billy I have a 13 year old sister and she loves your music and she would really love to meet you or at least see you in concert. She said she wish you would come to Pensacola, Florida BillyGilman: Hotstud302, hopefully I will be in Florida, we are adding a lot of new dates, I love Florida, I want to go there and hopefully I will meet your sister. rtwilkin: What tips do you have singing and how to get into the business? Seventeen Host: Keep those questions comin'! BillyGilman: rtwilkin, for singing I always do 45 min wwrth of vocal exercise or else I will crack and go flat, I always drink tea before a show, you have to pamper your voice. max_bsg: Hi Billy the Amazing Platinum, triple gold kid! You looked like you had fun on Slimetime. Was it tough washing all the slime off? BillyGilman: max_bsg, it wasnt, it took about 15 minutes, it was really cool, I could not believe it was edible, it was really neat, I was really surpirsed, I thought it would be cold, but it was hot, and I got to keep some! :P got2dance01: Do you get to spend a lot of time with family or does anyone go on the road with you? BillyGilman: got2dance01, well sometimes my family comes on the road with me, I have a younger brother, but he has to go to school, every now and then he will come with me. I get to see my family alot, I really do. Seventeen Host: Billy received a Grammy Nomination for Best Male Country performance - the youngest solo artist ever be nominated! americanbubbles: When did you first discover you wanted to take part in music? BillyGilman: americanbubbles, I like your name :P When I was 3, believe it or not, I just wanted to sing, my family would get down on thier knees and beg me to stop. When I was 8, I went and got lessons for 7 years, I could not go over an hour without belting something out. hotstud302: How do you like being the Little Guy of Country Music? BillyGilman: hotstud302, its really neat because Tim McGraw, Faith HIll, they all treat me like I am their son, they treat me really good, and it is really cool, i love it. apologetixnut: How have you kept such a healthy ego over this past year? BillyGilman: apologetixnut, My family keeps me really grounded. I would never want to change, I just want to be a kid, I dont want to get a big head and I want to be liked by everyone, I just dont want to change. peter5499: Do you know what you will be singing on the upcoming Michael Jackson conert? BillyGilman: peter5499, I am going to be singing "Ben" luckyfriends2000: Hey billy, Im a huge fan! My favourite song is "One Voice". I was wondering, When you finished shooting "Twas The Night Before Christmas" at Walt Disney World, did you go home right away or stay at Disney for a while to check things out? BillyGilman: jbravata226, Yes I have, its great! It tastes like regular ketchup, I think they put this funky green dye in it, its really neat xleaz: In your interview with AOL, in July 2000, you said that your most favourite song to sing was "Whats Forever For", is that still your favourite or has it changed. BillyGilman: xleaz, That was my favourite one when I was doing other concerts. I dont do that in my show now, but right now "One Voice" is my favourite even though I have sang it so many times. billygilmanloverbgl: hey Billy! I love you your like my Idol! Well I was wondering if your looking forward to playing at the rock country 4-H Fair at 27th? BillyGilman: billygilmanloverbgl: , I am very looking forward to it, it is going to be fun and I cant wait! Yahooligan-samanatha: Who writes the songs that you sing? BillyGilman: Samantha, many different people, on this new album, all the writers of Nashville got together around a table and wrote it together. It was really fun. chrissy123100: Do you learn music by ear or do you read sheet music, or both? BillyGilman: chrissy123100, I can not read sheet music, I'll tell you that right now, I did not do well in music classes, it got to the point where I got A minuses. Basically I write the words down and learn it by ear. chrissy123100: Hi Billy, Hope this chat finds you well! What is the most important thing you have learned so far in your success? BillyGilman: chrissy123100, Just loving the fans and just having fun. I just want to please the audience because you never know if you'll do that venue again. gep110: You were AWESOME in Hershey on Sunday! Just wondering.. Are there songs from your albums that you never perform live? BillyGilman: gep110, You never know, I might do every song on a new or old album, because I love them all, but that is a very good question jamibillyhead: What do you like about travelling on tour? BillyGilman: jamibillyhead, I love the bus! Its really neat I love the feeling of sleeping while you're moving, and going to the venues and going on roller coasters, that is just some of the stuff I love about it. blueskittle2839: Is it hard being on the road all the time? BillyGilman: blueskittle2839, no, it really isnt, becuase if my family does not go I talk with them every day. There is really nothing hard about the tours. ariggins2002: Andrew Riggins from Headline News, With the release of 3 albums, singles, charity work, etc, how was your life changed for better or worse? BillyGilman: ariggins2002:, For better I am getting to meet all the wonderful people in the business, like Rosie O'Donnell and the Today Show mldart: Do you ever see yourself crossing over to pop? BillyGilman: mldart, Well, that's always the question I get asked a lot because some of my songs have crossed over to pop, but I want to be known as a country singer. peter5499: Do you have any favourite albums by other artists? BillyGilman: peter5499, When I am listening to on my stereo roght now is Britney Spears. Tim McGraw and I love the new song by Faith Hill from Pearl Harbour, those are some of my favourites right now. justinsfine: hi billy i was wondering what was going through your mind when u won the dove award Seventeeen Host: justinsfine -- we are not sure what the dove award is, can you explain? clynda13: What effect do all your fans have on your career? BillyGilman: Clynda13 The fans are really really special to me, becuase if you did not have any fans, you would not have a career. Thats the bottom line. I have great fans and I want to thank all of them from the bottom of my heart. billygilmansangel1: What does billy like to do in his spare time? BillyGilman: billygilmansangel1: I love to golf, fish, ski, swim, just hang out with friends, I just love to do every normal kid thing hotstud302: Do you have any sister's or brothers? BG17 hotstud302: Yup, I have one brother he is 9, he is running around playing football with a friend. His name is Colin angel_face142002: Do you have any pets? BillyGilman: angel_face142002: yes, as a matter of fact I have a dog and three cats, the dogs name is whizzer, I dont know why my brother named him that, I think he wanted to name him a crazy name. nshsband: Billy - When do you think your next album will come out? michael6133: Hi Billy I have enjoyed both of your CDs I enjoyed when you came to Chicago will there be another Christmas CD? BillyGilman: nshsband: Its just barely in the making, we are still putting out a couple more singles from Dare To Dream. We are putting it together and its in the making. BillyGilman: michael6133: hopefully! I want to do one when my voice changes, I want to keep the other one in stores until then so that I'll have both. dancingqt31: Have you had any embarrassing moments while performing? Seventen Host: Billy's website, www.billygilman.com, receives over 500,000 hits per week! Those are some loyal fans! BillyGilman: dancingqt31, Yes as a matter of fact, I have. I have forgotten a verse to one song when I was on Grand Ole Opry. It was called Til I Can Make It On My Own, and it was by Tammy Wynette. winger82985: Hi Billy!!! I have laways loved to sing, and I think what your doing is absolutely wonderful. Keep it up. How do you feel you have made a differencee in the country music world? BillyGilman: winger82985: What I wanted to do was bring out a new voice as well as a good message, I just love country music and I'm glad I chose this because I love it so much. americanbubbles: What do you think is the hardest thing about being a country star? BillyGilman: americanbubbles: I dont really think there is a hard part, the only thing is because I am a kid and all, my voice changing, we are taking it one step at a time but I do not think there is anything really hard about it. oboewan11: I am a member of the Billy Gilman online street team - How do you pick out your songs on your albums? BillyGilman: oboewan11: Well, they try to avoid picking out songs that are too old for me. That is basically some of the pointers we point out to the writers, the important things. litlbitypretyone: Is your brother colin into singing? BillyGilman: litlbitypretyone: oh no, he is not. He does not like it, he just doesnt want to do it, he is more in to MotorCross, Tony Hawk and all that. dowboy98: Billy, what inspired you to sing these inspiring songs? BillyGilman: dowboy98 I love songs that are like "Oklahoma" that are meanignful, that is what I look for in a song. peter5499: What existing songs would you like to record? BillyGilman: petter5499 One song I would really like to cover is "ABC" by the Jackson 5, I just love that song, that is one of the awesome covers I want to do in the near future. nashville524: Was there ever a time when you thought you wouldnt make it? BillyGilman: nashville524 There was, I have to admit there was, I was so young. I was only 11, I almost broke down, I thought I would not make it and that I was too young, but everyone stuck with me, my family, my management and my hat goes off to them. leigh_girl2001: you're cute have u ever considered modeling? BillyGilman: leigh_girl2001 *lol* well, actually no I havent. Thats funny :P jbaravat226 (this one is from JimC) - What was your favourite part of Fan Fair? BillyGilman: jbravata266: My favourite part was the performing (&) meeting the fans, singing for them. But if I had to pick a real real favourite, it would have been performing, especially with a live band, that made it even more fun. me_an_hottie_gotta_luv)me Is it hard keeping in touch with ur family and friends while being on the road..do u miss them? Seventen Host: We are getting close to the end, so keep htose last questions coming! BillyGilman: me_an_hottie_gotta_luv_me its not really, I talk to my family everyday. I get to talk to my friends every other day because they have to go to school, they're the same old friends they haven't changed, they are true friends. apologetixnut: Hey Billy Do you ever visit the Billy-head website? BillyGilman: apologetixnut: I sure do, I have a couple times, I was on it today to see what was up to see if anybody came to the tour shows. I do go on every now and then. dare_to_dream_of_billy: Whats your favourite colour? BillyGilman: dare_to_dream_of_billy: My favourite colour is green!! :P heir_jordan23: whats your next single billy BillyGilman: heir_jordan23: We are thinking from all the emails and letters that the fans like it best when I sing long emotional ballads, but we have not really picked one out yet. legacy123ca: my question is to billy if you stuck on a desert island what 3 things will you bring? thanks love ya billy, your biggest fan BillyGilman: legacy123ca: I would definitely bring lots of batteries and a fan and water. vega_girl_2000 are you gonna tour UK? BillyGilman: vega_girl_2000 Hopefully, I have been over there and I love it, it is totally incredible, it took my breath away, hopefully I will do some shows over there. billygirl12000 I read on your one voice CD that your dream city is nashville...y?? BillyGilman: billygirl12000 it still is, I mean I love it! New York is my number one place, Nashville is my second. Because I just love it, my good friends are there, my management company, which is like my family, they are all there and its like a big happy family. billygilmanfan: Billy I just wanted to say thank you for following your Dreams. You have an amazing talent and great. BillyGilman: billygilmanfan: Thank you that really means a lot to me! rtwilkin What the best thing a fan has ever done for you? BillyGilman: rtwilkin The Billy Heads group chipped in and bought me a billboard in Tenn. and it said "One wonderful voice. We love you from your fans" And they donated money to St Jude and they put it in my name and that really meant a lot to me. I got tearyeyed when I saw the billboard. BillyGilman: I just want to thank all the fans and all the people that emailed me with the questions and the people that supported me throughout the year, I hope to meet you sometimes during the tour, and hopefulluy you guys are loving the album "Dare To Dream".
