Text of Billy Gilman chat on MSN, February 19, 7-7:30pm EST:
ACM nominated country artist BILLY GILMAN Chats about his upcoming tour and his latest release, Dare to Dream. DishDiva says: Welcome to MSN Live! Tonight we are pleased we welcome back recording artist Billy Gilman! DishDiva says: Billy, welcome back to MSN Live. You are one of the sweetest guests we have ever had. Billy_Gilman_Live says: Hello everybody! I've been on the road for a while. I hope to see you all soon and I can't wait to get to your questions! DishDiva says: Billy, we have so many fans asking this one question. Do you have a girlfriend? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Yes, in a kind of a way, but right now I'm getting back on the road. I'm not home anymore. I was home for about 3 months, but not anymore. I used to. DishDiva says: Let's start with the questions from the audience. We have so many! DishDiva says: Speaking of touring. . . kewlchic1100 in Onstage1 asks: Billy, how do you feel about traveling all the time? Billy_Gilman_Live says: I love it because you get to explore the world. You don't really know the world unless you travel and experience it for yourself. You get to see the beautiful mountains and oceans. I love it. brittanydaveandbusters in Onstage1 asks: What can't you live without? Billy_Gilman_Live says: My cell phone. I'm kind of in a way half Italian and I love to talk to family. So that's my favorite possession. BGilmansGrl29RI in Onstage1 asks: Hey Billy! I was wondering If you could go on tour with ANYONE, who would it be? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Well, I'd have to say either, see I love Earth Wind and Fire, Aerosmith and people like that, so either Celion Dion because she's a belter like me, you have to admire that because there are only a few of us Billy_Gilman_Live says: Or Earth Wind and Fire because I love their musicship. Their music makes you happy. bhkyra in Onstage4 asks: Do you get to help pick out the songs that end up on your albums? If so, what type of songs do you usually pick? Billy_Gilman_Live says: I'll pick out the songs 100% and have to please the fans. It will cover all the basics. It will have some pop, country, and some disco that will reach out to all the audiences of music. This time I really have a say. The album that came out last year Billy_Gilman_Live says: "Dare to Dream" I had kind of a say, but now I have 100% say. billysangels_cjb_net in Onstage1 asks: Hey Billy! My names Lynsie! I was wondering what is the coolest place you have ever been touring?! *Billyz Angels Club 4 eva* Billy_Gilman_Live says: I'd have to say the best place is the UK. I loved the UK it's so different from our culture. I live on the East Coast, there's lots of forests, and theirs is similar but there's castles and I like it a lot there. BillyheadMal in Onstage1 asks: As you know, "The Snake Song" was written by Bobby Braddock. Knowing that he wrote Toby Keith's #1 song "I wanna talk about me" and Tammy Wynette's #1 song "D-I-V-O-R-C-E", is it cool to sing songs written by the same man who wrote songs for your idols? Billy_Gilman_Live says: It really is. When I like go to sing the songs in the studio, they have the lyrics sheet in front of me but I don't really like to use lyrics sheets because I can't sing with enough emotion. But when I see who wrote them, I think it's really cool! the_sweetest_star in Onstage3 asks: Billy, I saw you in concert when you came to CO for the State Fair and I have to say that it was the most awesome thing I've EVER experienced. How did you discover your great gift? Billy_Gilman_Live says: I love to sing, even at an early age. I just loved to go up and down the halls singing (sings). My family would get so sick of it and would tell me to shut up. It's no wonder I wrecked my vocal chords because I sang so much. At an early age I discovered Billy_Gilman_Live says: my talent because I love it. reflected_eyez in Onstage3 asks: If you could do anything besides singing what would it be? Billy_Gilman_Live says: I love doctors and all that stuff and how they do their work. I love to watch "Emergency Vets" on Animal Planet or "Trauma Life in the ER." So I would have to say some kind of a doctor. Billy_Gilman_Live says: It's amazing how doctors don't get sick. Because they deal with so much. CoRa_RoCks in Onstage3 asks: Do you get nervous when you go on stage? Billy_Gilman_Live says: No. Not at all. A friend of mine told me (my vocal coach) she told me you jump up and down before you go on stage because it makes you happy. You are afraid you'll crack or something but when you jump it relieves all that. So that's what I do before I go Billy_Gilman_Live says: on stage Gilmanfan in Onstage3 asks: You bring so much joy to the world with your beautiful voice. What advice can you give young people about doing something that they love? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Never give up on your dreams because no dream is too extreme no matter how big it is. You have your own goals and dreams to fulfill so go for it 100% any way you can. MissHollyNoel in Onstage4 asks: What's your horse's name? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Actually we had to put it to sleep. I never got to ride it, so what's the fun of having one if you don't ride it. My mother shows horses, and this horse had arthritis. I used to have a horse named Tina, she was 25 years old. MikeRtheBillyHead in Onstage1 asks: Your songs make people feel a wide range of emotions. Which one makes YOU feel especially emotional? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Probably my first single "One Voice." Thank you so much. You don't know what to think, happy, sad, and that song, I have to put myself in the position of the song, and sometimes you get choked up. So it depends on the song and "One Voice" strikes a chord Billy_Gilman_Live says: in me. Peanut_Cutie511 in Onstage3 asks: Hi Billy! What is the greatest moment of your career so far? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Probably singing on the Michael Jackson tribute. Singing on stage in front of all those artists like Michael Jackson, Usher, Lize Minelli, Mya, Whitney Houston. That was the highlight of my career so far. HandheldLemur2 in Onstage3 asks: Apart from missing your family and friends, what other worries/ difficulties do you have as a growing artist at such a young age (for instance, image, schooling, ETC)? Billy_Gilman_Live says: I really, and I know fans say when I say this, I have a perfectly ordinary life, they're like, "Yeah right." But it's true. I can just put a hat on and go out with my friends so I don't have any hard questions when I go out. Homework is hard to catch up Billy_Gilman_Live says: when I get home, but it's not really that hard. I'm like most kids, I don't like homework. I have a pretty great life on stage and off. mreyesveryownlvr in Onstage4 asks: Do you have an email address that we can actually send you stuff to? Billy_Gilman_Live says: On my website there is a bulletin board and you put your notes to say to me on that and I read then. And every now and then I reply or you can go to BillyGilman.net and it lets you have your own e-mail address. That's all the e-mails that get sent to me Billy_Gilman_Live says: and sometimes I'll even reply so those are the two best things. cma801 in Onstage1 asks: Hey Billy how has your day been? Billy_Gilman_Live says: My day has been great! I've been practicing for the shows I'm getting ready to do. It was fun. It's been a relaxing day. I got my hair cut, got it dyed red, just kidding!! That's what my brother wants to do. (laughs) mreyesveryownlvr in Onstage4 asks: Are you excited to start high school next year? Billy_Gilman_Live says: You know what, I am! With all the algebra stuff, it's fun. I like it now, but it gets boring. I'm kind of nervous, I'll be driving soon. I'm growing up too fast, I want to stay a kid. BH_Tinker in Onstage1 asks: Is your allowance still $5/week, depending on whether you do your chores? Billy_Gilman_Live says: (laughs) Well unfortunately that's going down. I don't have an allowance now because I don't have any chores. I still make my bed and feed the dog, but no allowance. Billy_Gilman_Live says: I know it because I don't have extra change to go out and buy a CD. BenjiFab in Onstage1 asks: What do you want to be doing when you're 40 years old? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Still singing, hopefully with a huge production making a great show. Doing what I'm doing now, but to the extreme. FOTWGIRL in Onstage1 asks: What kind of CD's do you own? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Good question! I own different CDs. For instance Aerosmith, I love that album. Earth Wind and Fire, Celion Dion, and Bow Wow. So a wide variety. I'm a fan of all different types of music. Billy_Gilman1 in Onstage1 asks: What was the first thing you did when you became famous? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Other than jump for joy, I bought a pug dog. As a gift for my family for all they've done for me, taken their kid and given him permission to go out into the limelight and be known around the world, I took them on a cruise. I don't want to spend all my Billy_Gilman_Live says: money and have nothing, so those are the two main things I've done so far. jbravata226 in Onstage1 asks: Hey Billy, do you plan on being at Fan Fair this year? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Time will tell. We're still getting concert dates in. Hopefully because it's so much fun! We'll see. Krispy_985 in Onstage1 asks: Hi Billy! Every concert that I've been to you have sung "Crying" which always received a standing ovation. Will you ever record and release it as a single? Thanks so much and see you at URI on Sunday! Billy_Gilman_Live says: Hopefully we'll get to do that song as a single sometime, but right now we're just finding songs that are right for me because that song is a little too old for me. I like that song because I get to belt on it, so maybe someday. costadawn in Onstage1 asks: I love the Grand ole Opry and have you ever sung there? Billy_Gilman_Live says: Yes I have. I did my debut in June of 2000. It was amazing! That is another highlight of my career. Standing where great country artists stand like George Strait, Patsy Cline, and George Jones. Angel_Eyes256 in Onstage3 asks: What do you do in your spare time? Billy_Gilman_Live says: What every normal kid does. I rollerblade, ride my bike, jump off of ramps, in my grandmother's living room I bought a big stereo so I can put on a concert in her living room. In the summer I love to swim. Mykayla_90 in Onstage3 asks: Were you nervous when you sang Roly Poly for the first time?-----Mykayla, Maine Billy_Gilman_Live says: I was petrified. I was so nervous my hands were actually making a puddle on the floor. So I was really nervous when I made my debut singing "Roly Poly." All the grown ups asked me if I was sweating bullets, yes I was. billyznumba_1fan in Onstage1 asks: What are some of your everyday prorities? Billy_Gilman_Live says: You never know how a day is going to work out. Just go to school and have fun. You never take anything for granted. Don't stress over homework. Do your homework, but don't let it be the main of your day. Just have fun. DishDiva says: Billy, that's a great note to end on. Thanks for joining us especially on a school day! Billy_Gilman_Live says: Thank you to all the fans all over the world. I hope you like the new album coming out soon. I hope I can make it to all the different countries to see you. And have a great day at school tomorrow!!! |
